Introducing Penn

Heavy, Daisy and I are proud to announce our newest addition to our family - Penn Erling! Penn was born Thursday, June 2nd at 5:03pm, weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces and measuring 20 inches long.
Quick labor story - We checked into Sharp Mary Birch at 7:30pm on Wednesday evening, I started contractions on my own as soon as I got all checked in (which was great) so they just put in an IV and monitored me for a few hours. Around 11:30pm they decided to give me a small dose of cytotec which helped me get to 5 cm by early morning when the contractions started to be pretty painful. Somewhere between 5 cm and 8 cm I got the epidural, which helped out tremendously! My water broke on its own as the anesthesiologist gave me the epidural and by noon I was at 10 cm. My doctor had a c-section scheduled so I didn't start pushing until close to 1pm. I pushed from 1 until 4pm when the doctor finally came in to give me some options. I asked for 30 more minutes to push before making any decisions, which she gave me and still no Penn. So at 5pm, the doctor with a team of about 8 came in to assist me. One push with the help of that vacuum on Penn's head and he was out. Yay!!!

We spent the next 24 hours recovering and got released Friday at 5pm.

Thank you to everyone for your visits, text messages, phone calls, emails, etc. We appreciate all your kind words, gifts, meals!!

Induction Day

It looks like our little guy is just still not ready to make an appearance on his own so the doctors will be helping out this evening! I will be checking in at Sharp at 7:30pm tonight to get induced, I am already dilated 2cm and effaced so I hope to being sharing news and pictures some point tomorrow, June 2nd!

Easter 2011 - 9 months!!

Happy Easter! Today is exactly one month from my due date - crazy to think he will be here soo soon!

Trisha and I started our Easter with a long (slow) walk, enjoyed breakfast at Good Time Charlies and then got a few shots of my growing belly with our new camera.
As you can see, I have grown quite a bit since my last post. Nug is measuring slightly bigger than your average baby at 36 weeks! I blame Heav!!

Nugs Nursery is complete!!

Our personal decorator, Audra, drove down Tuesday to put the nursery together! And it turned out AMAZING! Look how cute our nursery and bathroom looks!!
Mark and Audra made the side shelves, Audra made all those adorable blocks, she painted all those stripes and the monogram board. (You will see only the middle and last name initial as we have not picked out a first yet.)

Audra painted the white stripes and polka dots on our blue walls - sooo cute!

Bay Area Baby Shower!

My amazing family and friends threw Nug and I a wonderful baby shower this past weekend. It included 35 of my closest friends and family members, a huge yummy lunch, chocolate fountains, and Bellini champagne cocktails (punch for the non preggers). Besides the rain, it was a blast. Thank you to everyone who planned the event - mom, Trisha, Nancy, Krissy! And to everyone who made or brought something special for the shower.
An extra thanks to the girls that drove a long way in bad weather to be there - My aunt and cousin from Redding, Marisa from Chico, Gena from Reno, Courtney from Redding!!
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR MAKING MY SHOWER SO SPECIAL! NUG AND I ARE SOOO SPOILED!!
My cousin Laura (newly engaged!!) and Melissa, my cousin Scott's wife
Julie Moylan and Kate Rudick!
My pregger partner in crime! Less than 4 weeks apart!
The Grandma's!
Trish and Mom - their hands look so small on that stomach!
One of the shower games was to pair off, one person became the MOM, the other the BABY. The mom had to feed an entire jar of baby food to the baby, using a tiny spoon, as fast as they could. The first one done would take the prize! VERY entertaining!

Shannon and Maris had the shovel-in approach.

Nancy was way more polite! Needless to say they did not win.
My mom seems to not be a fan of banana goo.
HOW SPOILED ARE WE?? Everyone was so generous, we got some great gifts!!
The baby bump...also seen in the New Years post but we got to stand closer that day!
Darren teasing me with whiskey!
Yes that is a shot of whiskey in my shirt...if you know Uncle Rick, you are not surprised by this!
